Question

How accurate are the Docklight time stamps? Can I increase time stamp resolution and accuracy to 1 millisecond?

Applies to: Docklight / Docklight Scripting (all versions)

Answer

Docklight (Scripting) V1.9 offers time stamps with milliseconds resolution. The V1.9 versions use a new high-resolution time provider that provides true milliseconds time measurements with much higher precision than standard Windows SYSTEMTIME measurements. But you still need to consider that the actual monitoring accuracy depends very much on your PC's hardware and software characteristics (serial hardware used, operating system, overall PC performance). Our "Docklight Tap" Application Note and the Docklight User Manual contain detailed information about limitations in PC-based data monitoring, and how to obtain best accuracy with Docklight.
