Question
What happened to HyperTerminal in Windows Vista and Windows 7? Can I use Docklight RS232 Terminal / RS232 Monitor or Docklight
Scripting as a Hyperterminal replacement?
Applies to: Docklight / Docklight Scripting (all versions)
Answer
Docklight and Docklight Scripting are perfect companions for many serial testing and configuration tasks, and let you get
the job done faster than using HyperTerminal or other standard terminal software. Docklight / Docklight Scripting are available
as non-expiring (not time-limited) evaluation versions. They already provide full communication functionality, and can be
used free of charge for basic testing. See below for the software download and information about the evaluation version limits.
Please note: Docklight has a different focus than Hyperterminal. It is designed for testing serial application protocols (e.g.
MODBUS or AT Modem Commands) and it is NOT a terminal emulator for VT100 or other terminal standards. If you require an emulator
for VT100 or other terminal standards, please check the original HyperTerminal website for a software download for Microsoft
Vista.
